no, actually, i can’t be friends with someone who has opposing political views. this is mostly due to the fact my views are “people deserve rights”

>Character who’s gender is ambiguous is introduced

Look I know reading is a hard thing to do at times but when you see they/them pronouns used on a character over and over again maybe this may indicate they do in fact use they/them pronouns. Just a hunch though idk

It’s actually baffling too like does a character need to quite literally pause everything to go “Hey my pronouns are they/them btw” every so often in order to drill it into people’s heads that they do not use he/she pronouns? Is it not possible to just pick up on the fact that they’re only ever referred to with they/them pronouns? It should be basic reading comprehension to see that and recognize that they use they/them pronouns, really

It’s also goofy when, again, the characters are gender ambiguous and people go “Well they present as masculine/feminine so how was I supposed to know they were non-binary???” and the design in question is like a triangle with googly eyes glued on

Do y’all think siblings in medieval times would look at the little beasts in illuminated manuscripts and point at each other like ‘ha! ‘Tis thou!’

Food stamps may stop in November if the shutdown continues. This may be a good time to look into food banks, kitchens, meal trains, and discount markets and programs for outdated foods if you are depending on SNAP.

As it stands, SNAP benefits end October 31st.

There’s at least one regional org where we live doing a massive food drive in response, so we’ll be participating. I’m openly asking anyone who can help out to do the same for your local communities.

findhelp.org is a resource that can help you find food banks/pantries in your area

constantly making airy offhand comments to my preferred younger son about how he’s next in line for the throne after his brother but he still hasn’t killed my detested firstborn for me. kids these days have no fucking initiative.

I keep sending them off on “boar hunts” together and wouldn’t you know? they keep coming back after with big smiles and boar heads and the unmistakable stench of brotherly camaraderie. what sick sad days are these!

Autistic Traits I assumed I didn't experience as I Interpreted them LiterallyALT
1. Eye Contact Why I assumed I didn't experience this trait I assumed that because I could make eye contact even thought it was painful and I would count in my head '1 2 3, look away' How this trait might show up? Looking at the person's eyebrows instead of making eye contact to not appear to have eye contact differences. Making intense eye contact without looking away. Cueing ourselves in our head to make eye contact for a certain number of seconds before looking away.ALT
2. Lining Things Up Why I assumed I didn't experience this trait I assumed that this could only be lining up objects in a row like cars. How this trait might up? Line up teddies in rows in the right order on the bed before going to sleep. Line up food in a certain order before eating. E.g. lining up sweets in order. Needing to have apps on phone lined up in a certain order. Have clothes lined up in colour order in the wardrobe/chest of draws.ALT
3. Seeing the detail before the bigger picture. How I took this literally I assumed that this meant when looking a visual image 'picture' rather than seeing the detail before the general overall point in different elements of life. How this trait showed up? Noticing small details such as differences in people's tone of voice, noticing small changes in room layouts etc. Difficulty summarising or generalising ideas.ALT
4. Pattern Seeking Why I assumed I didn't experience this trait I assumed that this only referred to patterns in numbers or visual sequences rather than recognising the varied ways this could show up. How this trait showed up? Recognising patterns in peoples behaviour. Being able to predict film or book plots. Being able to predict music melodies. Feeling like we can 'predict' what will happen in the future due to past patterns repeating.ALT
5. Difficulty Identifying Emotions Why I assumed I didn't experience this trait I thought 'difficulty identifying emotions meant never knowing what I felt at all. How this trait showed up? Knowing we feel bad or good but not knowing the specific emotion we are experiencing. Describing the situations that happened due to difficulties in identifying the associated emotions. Experiencing emotions physically. E.g. a stomach ache, headache. Only experiencing the emotions days, weeks or months after the situation happened.ALT
6. Repetition of words/Phrases Why I assumed I didn't experience this trait I assumed that this only meant repeating words/phrases out loud immediately after they have been said. How this trait showed up? Repeating phrases heard from TV shows/films. Repeating phrases days/weeks after hearing them. Sometimes it might be in a specific context, other times, it could be random. Repeating phrases in our head over and over again, without saying it allowed.ALT

Note: these are different ways these can show up. They can also show up in a stereotypical way. If you’ve met one autistic, you’ve met one autistic.
